I have a question
Did you take roll for points?

Can we use "Helen" instead of Bechdel's mother ?

I do take role, but I don't give points for it. Still, if you miss class or come late you lose points because you miss things like the sentences at the beginning of class or the in-class reading responses.

The rule for writing about characters is that you call them whatever name they are most often called in the story. So "Bechdel's mother" is fine. But you can call her "Helen" since that is her name, though it's not often mentioned (I think we first see it on her passport on page 71). I noticed people were calling Bechdel's mother "Isabel," but that's the character in Portrait of a Lady.
